Lovin' Betty

I love Betty, Betty K. that is...she's my mom.

I also love this 'Betty' she's a beautiful 1930's vanity.

As I was painting I thought of my mom & her aunt, our Tunte.

I could see the two of them at the vanity together when my mom  was a little girl & it made me smile, so  I thought I'd name this piece 'Betty'

While working on a piece of furniture I often think about the person who  had it, who  were they,where did they live? Then I give them a name & I feel some kind of connection to them . Sometimes, like with this piece,it reminds me of someone I know. So, you may be wondering a little about this chick, but that's the way my mind goes ...so maybe I'll start naming all my pieces!

'Betty' is a lovely shade of  celery green  with cream drawer fronts  & comes with this cute chair. She is at the Bellevue Antique Mall waiting for a home....

Saturday Saling

saling saturday...

had a great day at the cross plains, tn city-wide sale. people were set up in neighborhoods, along the road, in a field & business parking lots.

started out at 6:00a.m. with lots of energy & an empty truck

by 2:00p.m. we had a full truck & no energy

negotiating ... had this man begging us for mercy...(just kidding)... one of the things we enjoy about saling is the great people we meet along the way, like this gentleman & his wife from alabama. they had a great space set up under the trees & were fun to buy from.

it's so good to be back today & we were so excited to see five followers!  so thankful for family & friends to support us as we get started...
we also got a facebook page started today, things are getting done & we love that!

tomorrow we'll be heading north to cross plains, tn for their city-wide community sale, it should be a good one! 
most yard sale saturdays it's us & our driver, constant source of amusment ,sometime  know-it-all & all the time sharon's husband, brad & our ever loving constantly changing her mind ,friend, sherry . oh, & our gps, violet...
a good time is usually had by all..right? yes, most of the time. well, violet can be a little irritating at times.
hope we have some good 'finds' to share with you on monday.

Our First Chick Post

well, here we are...the vintage shabby chicks with our first blog post. however you found us, we'd like to say 'welcome'
we're new at this & it will be a work in progress for the next couple of weeks til we get the 'look' we want, so we thank you in advance for bearing with us. we kept talking about what to do & trying this & trying that & finally said heck with it, let's just start.
you won't find anything fancy or wordy, you'll only find us just being us!
 talking about painting furniture, family, friends, faith, yard saling, our fur kids or whatever is on our mind that day.
